Born on Talax, Cygnis grew up under the tyranny of
the Haakonians. With a unsatisfied curiosity, the 20 year
old talaxian jumped on the first space-traveling ship with
available positions (a Cargo Freighter) to learn further of
the "space" around him.
One year later, The Freighter Phaelon was on route
home from a cargo-run and had been passing through the
Dolmine Sector when they came in contact with a species
known now as the Borg. Being easily assimilated into the
collective and labeled as "Species 218," all 39 crewmembers
(Cygnis included) were sent off as tactical drones. After
serving as a drone for four years, A rebel faction
stationed on the outer rim of the galaxy liberated Cygnis
from a Borg Interceptor that had been gathering information
a sector outside of the Beta Quadrant. Undergoing extensive
surgical procedures to remove the implants bound to his
body, and a yearlong recuperation period, He soon learned
of the more than 65,000 light-years between him and his home
world.
Hopping from transport to transport, he eventually
found his way to the alpha quadrant where he settled down
and soon applied to Starfleet academy when he was 28.
Studying in Quantum and Astrophysics, Time theory, and
Cybernetics, he later graduated 10th in his class.
